With the fourth of July weekend at hand, I felt it appropriate to head out to the Mojave Desert and test drive a dune buggy that I have heard so much about - specifically the Joyner 1100cc sand rail. . . . . www.mikrouna-usa.com/joyner_buggy.html

We're still a few years out from seeing an all-new sedan from Maserati, but the firm did spiff up its 2009 Quattroporte with a few changes.

Perhaps the most significant addition is the new Quattroporte S model. More than an attempt to look sporty, the S makes use of the same 425-hp 4.7-liter V-8 found in the slinky GranTurismo S coupe, while base models. . . Click to continue

A few weeks back I was sitting in Tokyo, the Ginza district to be exact and stumbled across the Nissan display which by luck had a nice red shiny Nissan GTR in the front showroom.  What a site, unfortunately the doors were closed as it was approximately 10 PM and I was headed to the local bar to cause some mischief.  Just looking at the new GTR in person has changed my mind about the car.  After gawking at the car for a while I was off to the bar trying to think of a way to rent one of these while in Japan.        Ferrari has done it, the have finally announced the Ferrari California even though us internet bloggers have been talking about it for years.  Ferrari is claiming it is a classic 4.3 liter V8 and is only going to come in a convertible body style.  I have to say that some of the early photo's have peaked my interest however I am somewhat disappointed in the rumors that the Ferrari California is going to be sharing a lot of body parts with the Maserati GranTurismo.  Can one justify spending 210K on a GranTurismo re-badged?  While I am a bit disappointed with some of the rumors floating around, I am going to reserve my judgment until the car hits the auto shows in October.  Some specifications for those interested:

Layout: Front mid-engine, rear-drive two door convertible only, with a "2+" configuration that includes a small rear seat or finished parcel shelf.

Engine: 4.3 liter, gas direct-injection V-8, with "flat" crankshaft which produces 454 horsepower.

Performance: 0 - 60 in < 4 seconds.

And last but not least, carbon-ceramic disc brakes.

I don't know about the rest of you, but this morning when I went to gas up my car my wallet all of a sudden seamed a lot emptier.  I am sure there are a lot of people out there that are even worse of with me struggling to make sure there is gas to get to work.  With this topic in mind, I was pretty impressed with BMW's upcoming prototype car "BMW Goes Green".

Due in part to the regulations that are headed towards California regarding clean emissions and advanced technology, BMW has begun developing a new generation of electric vehicles that some predict will hit the show rooms as early as 2015.  I realize that is a few years down the road, but one can imagine how much per year in gas you would save if you could get an all electric car.

I don't know how many of you remember, but back in 1991 and 1992 BMW rolled out a few electric concepts titled the E1 and E2, these were quite the flops as the 0 - 50 time was in the minutes (I kid, but it was around 16 - 17 seconds).  Hopefully with new battery technology as well as motor technology, we can see some future options come out of BMW that will prove valuable to us consumers.

It looks like once again I will be attending the SEMA Auto Show this year in Las Vegas.  For those of you unfamiliar with the show, please take a look at the website: www.semashow.com.

It also looks like one of my photographers flaked this year so I thought it might be interesting to post online for a free SEMA Ticket.  Whomever wants to go to SEMA this year can simply send me an email (info@mikrouna-usa.com) and the best and most creative email will win the SEMA ticket and get into the show.

For those wondering what is so special about the SEMA show, every year vendors bring out their latest and greatest automotive products as well as hundreds of beautiful ladies to display them.  This event is not open to the public.

I will be posting pictures online during and after the show, come take a look back during Nov 4th - 7th to see what's new.

Guess who is back with a whole lot more power for the 2008 year?  That's right, Porsche has came out with their new somewhat face lifted Porsche Cayenne with a new GTS model.  Along with the added GTS model, they have upgraded their base V6 unit to give it a little bit more power when cruising the streets of California.

A few years back I drove the old V6 and was somewhat disappointed with the performance (especially with the Porsche name); however from what I have heard this new V6 Porsche will pack a lot more punch and the GTS looks to be a street monster.  I will most definitely have to go out and test drive these guys.

For those who like the Porsche Cayenne, I added a picture to the left with a flat black paint job and a nice body kit, the looks on this are just impressive.

The Mini Cooper, need I say anything more.  I had the opportunity a few weeks back to drive a somewhat tuned Mini Cooper that put out about 210 HP.  This thing was a monster, it almost felt like I was at a cart racing event but in reality I was zipping around the streets of Los Angeles.

For those unfamiliar with the brand Mini, it has a somewhat storied racing past, founded by John Newton Cooper son of a mechanic who had a passion to race.  He was the founder of the rear-mounted engine racecar.  These cars led him to win the Monte Carlo Rally three times and the Grand Prix 16 times - rather impressive.

After I test drove the car I started to play around in some of the online sources and stumbled across a the "John Cooper Accessories" that further enhance the look of the Cooper.  So for those of you who have not had the opportunity to drive one of these awesome little machines, head over to www.miniusa.com and find your local dealer.

Everybody likes exotic cars, Ferrari's Lamborghini's a few Bentley's but rarely does anybody think of a Koenigsegg CCR.  I must say I was thoroughly impressed when I was watching the history channel (I know, don't make fun).  The car was utterly amazing to watch run around the track.

The CCR Broke the record for the fastest road legal car in the world having attained 241.63 MPH.  Now that is impressive.  I didn't realize how much carbon fiber the car had in it, and how easy it was to mold the carbon fiber (albeit I bet there is a lot of technique that goes into it).

Anyway, I just thought I would share a bit of the television show I was watching tonight, if you have not seen this car, you have to go check it out Koenigsegg CCR.

Well folks, after writing for many other online blogs I have decided to finally put together a little community were I can talk about my passion, the automotive industry.

I am interested in all forms of the automotive industry from car racing, new car previews, car comparisons, after market performance parts to future technology and were the automotive industry is headed.  One thing I want to make early is that all my content is original, I am somewhat disappointed in seeing these "spam" blogs coming online where people are just trying to get you to click their banners.

So sit back folks and look forward to some interesting and hopefully entertaining blogs and articles to come in the near future.  And don't forget, anytime you want to talk directly to the offer, I encourage you to send me an email and tell me what you think.
