We're still a few years out from seeing an
all-new sedan from Maserati, but the firm did
spiff up its 2009 Quattroporte with a few
changes.
Perhaps the most significant addition is the new
Quattroporte S model. More than an attempt to
look sporty, the S makes use of the same 425-hp
4.7-liter V-8 found in the slinky GranTurismo S
coupe, while base models make use of the
carryover 4.2-liter V-8, good for 400 hp.
Regardless of the engine, a ZF-sourced six-speed
automatic is standard fare.
Other changes to the '09 Quattroporte are much
more subtle. Maserati's left much of the
original Pininfarina design unchanged, only to
refine small details. For instance, the 2009
cars now sport LED lighting in both the front
turn signals and rear lamps, along with a new
grille (with vertical slats) and tweaked bumper
skins.
Interior modifications are likewise limited,
consisting of a new navigation and audio system
and two new shades of leather seating.
Look for both the 2009 Quattroporte and
Quattroporte S to arrive in dealers worldwide in
the fall of 2008.
